This friend was always there when I needed someone to share a coffee with, to vent to, and also there to help out with my girls when needed. We were always there for each other. It’s going to be really strange not to be able to call her up each day.

This week I created this album for her daughter to remember the friendship between her and my girls. We gave it to her today and she really loved it.

This album was created totally from scratch (cereal boxes, actually), and I cut each page out by hand. Then I covered each page with pp and added photos and little extras!

There have been so many lost lives lately all over the news, and I have often though, “What if one of those people lost was someone in the scrapping community?” I know this sounds a little morbid, but I often though about what would happen after? Would people come together to support the family? Would the family accept support from a bunch of scrapping friends that had never met their loved one? After this tradegy, I am honored to say that I am a part of this scrapping family. I am so proud of each and every one of you who have offered support, prayers, money, gifts, love, and much more to a family in need of so much during this difficult time. It means sooooo much to know that your loved one was also loved by so many people.

I did not have the opportunity or priviledge to ‘meet’ this dear person who so many called their friend. Aleida Frankiln touched so many people while she lived (as you can read about in the above forum link), and is now touching so many more people after her life was quickly taken from her. One of those people is ME. I spent over an hour last evening going through her blog, reading her posts about how much she loved her family, looking at her scrapping creations, weeping and realizing how very precious life was to her and should be to each of us. So, let’s not take for granted even one day, with our kids, our spouses, our parents, our friends, and yes, even our cyber friends who we’ve never met. I challenge you right now (because in the scrapbooking world that’s what we do, right?), to think of 5 people who you have not talked to, or emailed, or heard from in a while. Drop them a little note to tell them how much you appreciate them. Make a card for them, give them a phone call, a little ‘pick me up”, in honor of Aleida . NEVER take one minute for granted!

While they were here, Carla also showed me how to use the Super Macro feature on my camera! Something I’ve been trying to figure out for a while now. It’s sooooo much fun to use! Here are a couple of photos of some grasshoppers in our yard that the kids caught!

For now I will share a couple of LOs that I created in the last 2 months, and see what you think!

This LO I created for this week’s challenge at Sisterhood of Scrap (check out the site…there’s an awesome prize up for grabs this month!) and also for the Sept Guest Design Team challenge at Create My Keepsake .

I actually created this by weaving the ribbon through the mesh! This was very easy to do.

Here are the supplies I used:

The ribbon is from the JUNE Sweet Magnolia kit!

The I used wire as a needle so that I could weave the ribbon.

I started to weave the ribbon through approx every 3-4 squares. I tied a know in between the weaving.

I used a couple of different types of ribbon. Here’s what the finished product looked like!

So..go ahead! Give it a try!! And don’t forget to share what you made in the SnS Gallery!!
